Bermuda Skipper hurt leaving grounded boat off Nantucket
NANTUCKET - (7/13/06) The 77-year-old master of a 42-foot sailing vessel was flown to a Boston hospital after his ship ran aground and was lodged in some rocks of the east jetty last night, a Coast Guard petty officer said. At about 3 a.m., a person on a small boat called Station Brant Point to say he was bringing an injured man to the dock. The man's leg was seriously hurt while he was trying to get off his stranded sailboat, the Mary, and onto the rescuer's boat, according to the Coast Guard. The Nantucket Fire Department took the injured man to Nantucket Cottage Hospital. From there, he was flown by MedFlight to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
